Reverse reads A Factory Benelux Product."The Plateau Phase" on CD by Crispy Ambulance is a cult cornerstone of the post-punk era, presented here in a carefully curated edition by Factory Benelux. Originally emerging from the same fertile Manchester scene that produced Joy Division and A Certain Ratio, Crispy Ambulance crafted a darker, more experimental take on post-punk, blending stark rhythms, brooding basslines and atmospheric guitars into an intense, hypnotic sound. "The Plateau Phase" captures the band at their creative peak: angular song structures, a tense, nervous energy and a pervasive sense of melancholy and introspection run through the album, making it a compelling listen for fans of classic Factory Records and adventurous alternative rock. The CD format provides clear, detailed sound that highlights the band's intricate interplay and textural nuances, allowing both long-time admirers and new listeners to fully appreciate the depth and originality of these recordings.
Crispy Ambulance formed in late-1970s Manchester and soon became associated with the influential Factory Records milieu. Although they never reached mainstream chart success, they built a devoted following with their uncompromising, atmospheric sound and intense live performances. Their work has since been rediscovered and praised as an essential part of the post-punk canon, with "The Plateau Phase" often cited by connoisseurs as their definitive statement and a hidden gem in the broader Factory-related catalogue.
Factory Benelux, the label behind this edition, has long been dedicated to preserving and re-presenting key recordings from the post-punk and new wave era. Closely linked to the legendary Factory Records legacy, Factory Benelux focuses on high-quality reissues and carefully prepared editions, often restoring important albums to print with thoughtful packaging and attention to sound. With "The Plateau Phase" on CD, the label once again underlines its commitment to historically important, artistically ambitious music that might otherwise be difficult to find, making this release a must-have for serious collectors of post-punk and Factory-related music. | | | Producer: |
