2017 release. Contrasts have always been deep and at the very heart of Amenra, who have been uttering prayers and holding masses for eighteen years. Tormented darkness has always coexisted alongside luminous beauty, and thunderous impacts instantly follow frail, delicate subtleties. Songs that engulf everyone in the world suddenly feel whispered inside a solitary womb. Mass VI is here, and more than any other album in the band's past, it highlights those contrasts. The eerie quiet of the first couple minutes of "Children Of The Eye" announces the coming storm, and the nine explosive, cathartic minutes that follow hold all the striking disparate emotions one expects from the band. This album is an emotional rollercoaster until it's very last second, when "Diaken" abruptly ends at it's very climax. Every band member is stretched to their physical limits throughout: Colin H. Vaneeckhout (vocals) puts in the performance of a lifetime, but he is inextricably intertwined to the guitar-work of Mathieu J. Vandekerckhove; Lennart Bossu expresses unimaginable weight, both physical and spiritual, as well as weaving melodies of the utmost delicacy; the rhythm section of Levy Seynaeve and Bjorn J. Lebon rumbles like a consuming thunderstorm or retreat to the shadows with flowing spontaneity. No love without pain. No life without death. No light without darkness. That is the conflict at the heart of the album and at the heart of what it means to be human, and this music wrenches that ambivalence out.

"Mass VI" is a powerful and immersive CD by Belgian band Amenra, released on the renowned label Neurot. Known for their intense blend of post-metal, sludge and doom, Amenra create on "Mass VI" a deeply emotional, almost ritualistic listening experience, marked by towering riffs, dynamic shifts between fragility and brutality, and vocals that alternate between whispered confession and cathartic screams. The album unfolds like a single dramatic arc, moving from quiet, haunted passages into overwhelming walls of sound, always driven by a strong sense of atmosphere and spiritual weight. Lyrically and musically, "Mass VI" is steeped in themes of loss, faith, pain and transcendence, inviting the listener into a dark yet strangely purifying journey that rewards attentive, repeated plays. The production emphasizes contrast and space, allowing each instrument to breathe and underlining the band's meticulous songwriting and emotional depth. This CD edition is ideal for listeners who value albums as complete works rather than collections of individual tracks, and for fans of heavy music that seeks meaning as much as impact.

Amenra, formed in Belgium in the late 1990s, have become one of the most respected names in the post-metal and avant-heavy scene. Through their long-running "Mass" series of albums and their intense, ritualistic live performances, they have cultivated a dedicated following far beyond genre boundaries. Their work with the artistic collective Church of Ra has further underlined their distinctive aesthetic vision, uniting music, visuals and performance into a cohesive whole. Over the years, Amenra have shared stages with many major acts from the heavy music world and have been praised in international music press for their emotional honesty, uncompromising heaviness and unique live rituals. "Mass VI" stands among their most acclaimed works, often cited as a culmination of their sound to date.

The CD is released by Neurot, a respected independent label founded by members of the band Neurosis. Neurot Recordings has built a strong reputation for supporting visionary and boundary-pushing artists in the fields of post-metal, experimental rock, ambient and heavy music. Rather than following trends, the label focuses on bands and projects that explore depth, atmosphere and genuine artistic expression. Over the years, Neurot has become a seal of quality for listeners searching for demanding, emotionally charged and innovative music. With "Mass VI", Neurot once more underlines its role as a home for artists who approach heavy music as an art form rather than mere entertainment.

For fans of atmospheric post-metal, doom-laden soundscapes and introspective heaviness, "Mass VI" on CD is both an emotional challenge and a rewarding companion--an album to be experienced in full, from the first note to the last fading resonance.
